Hope On A High-Wire

Andrew, as you already know, I am your Psychology professor. That means I am a man of science. I believe most of the answers in the universe can be found in the mind, the body, and our genetic system. But there are some things in this world that go beyond science- things I can never explain. There’s something bigger out there than science. Whether its god, or some cosmic being, something is out there. I believe this because I have seen things with my own eyes that science and psychology can not begin to describe. And that mystery, that meaning, whatever it may be, I find incredibly beautiful.

Top 5 Movies I Never Want To See As Video Games

Movies based on games or games based off movies, face it, they usually suck. I would like to focus on the lesser of the two evils are share with you 5 movies that I don’t want to turn into video games. If 3 out of 5 of these ever DO, I’m moving off the planet.

-

#5 Forrest Gump

First of all, this is one of the greatest movies of all time, and that’s exactly why I dont want to see a game of it. Because it would ruin it. I can only imagine it would be a bunch of movie scenes revised into some kind of mini-game format. Remember when young Elvis is staying in his house and Forrest is dancing to whatever Elvis is playing? That would be a Dance Dance Revolution like mini game. EVERYTHING would be a mini-game, and they would all suck, excluding the Vietnam scenes. I actually bet that would be pretty awesome.

Tap the A button! Tap it! Huurrrryy!!!

-

#4 Speed

As if Keanu Reeves wasn’t boring enough, this game would pretty just have you be in control of a bus, and you have to keep the speed above 60 or GAME OVER. Online modes would include one person having to maintain the bus while another person tries to stop it. I can just imagine all the map packs that Activision would sell for it.

“Remember, whatever happens, we can always retry from the most recent checkpoint.”

-
#3 The Blare Witch Project

The game would be a 6-hour campaign involving you walking around the woods, being absolutely stupid. I can only see it as a point and click adventure. Online Co-Op of course, but it wouldn’t help make it any better.

“No, i’m not dead. I’m just sad that I wasted 6 hours of my life.”

-

#2 The Bourne Ultimatum

Wait, you mean this is already a terrible video game? LULZ

-

#1 Titanic

No. Just no. The player would take contorl as Jack, running around in an open world (or open ship) styled game, leading Rose (Player 2 if you have one, otherwise, she’s CPU) around the ship trying to gain as much trust from her as you can before the timing runs out. AKA, the ship getting sunk. Or is it sank? Whatever, the game would suck.

“Rose, I wanna be with you, but I already used up my last health potion.”

Make these games, I dare you. There will be one less U.S. Resident.

Anonymous asked: So what is your second book going to be about?

I’m still brainstorming, and will be probably for the rest of the summer, but I’m thinking something along the lines of post-apocalyptic. My first book was pretty much about inspiration, love, and finding hope. I want to do the exact opposite for the second one- Violence, chaos, and human corruption. The first book, even a lot of my short stories, deal with a reoccurring theme- the human mind and how it handles stress- I’m going to try to keep that same thing for the second one. Like I said, still brainstorming but that’s what I think I will aim for. It wont be an Apocalypse with zombies, aliens, giant robots, or mutated creatures, just humans fighting the most deadly enemy of them all, other humans. Thank you for your question :)

Anonymous asked: What qualities do you look for in a girl? Have you ever been in love?

She has to live with a kind heart, treat people with respect, and be nice. A good person is usually what I aim for. Deeply emotive, passionate about what she believes in, and committed to doing the right thing, if its possible. But usually what it all boils down to is how well we get along. Chemistry is key. It doesn’t really matter if we have similar interests (although I’m sure that would help) as long as we understand each other and respect each others opinions, then its all good. I would like to think I have been in love before, but that was many moons ago, and I no longer think about those people in that way. I hope this answers your question.

Top 5 Most Generic/Cliche places to visit in Survival Horror Video Games.

When it comes to scary video games, atmosphere is just as important as the situations that you find yourself in. Although the following places can do the trick to provide fear, they are somewhat generic and over used in said genre in video gaming. If developers choose these locations, they must do so correctly. If the protagonist is to walk into an abandoned hospital, make the reason for doing so significant. Don’t let him/her have to journey into it just because it ‘feels scary.’ Regardless, here are the top 5 most generic/cliche places to visit in the genre:

Speaking of hospitals…

#5 Hospitals (Photo from Dead Space 2)

The fear behind hospitals is somewhat misunderstood. A lot of people fear hospitals because sub-consciously we know it is a place of bad health and sickness. If you are sent to a hospital, nine times out of ten its because something is wrong with you health wise. But the redundancy of hospitals is taking the fear out of hospitals since it is used over and over again. If it continues to do so, the fear in said place will soon flat-line.

#4 Hotels/Apartment Complexes (Photo from Silent Hill 2)

Why these are so often portrayed in Horror I’ll never really know. Often these seem to be the most boring parts of a Survival Horror video game. Hallways are usually long, repetitive, and the layout is usually simplistic, taking away a little bit of the fear of what the above or below floors are like. Now that I mention it, every SH game has had something like this in them. Its time for something new.

-

#3 Oil Refinery/Industrial Plantation (Photo from Resident Evil 5)

As if oil prices alone weren’t scary enough, now we’re doomed to walk through a mental torment of what humans can do to an environment. Its the same thing over and over again: Grey skies, long and awkward stair cases, and random steam leaks that try to hurt the protagonist. But worry not! For those random patches of steam somehow have a repetitive rhythm so you can time your dodge just right and avoid taking steamy damage. Do like my sarcasm? Come on! Let off some steam!

-

#2  Mine-shafts/ Random caves (Photo from Resident Evil 4)

You would think this area wouldn’t appear as much but unfortunately it does. They are just bad attempts at getting you from one part of the area to the next. And they always end the same don’t they? You being stuck on a run away mine cart, fending off foes that try to get on it like it was some kind ride at King’s Island. At least you don’t have to wait in line.

-

#1 Sewers (Photo from Silent Hill 3)

ANOTHER cheap way to get to one part of an area to another, sewers are practically in every video game dealing with horror elements, and face it, they suck, and they are boring. And sewers NEVER really look like that in real life. Some games I swear that they make it look like a whole town is under there. Get real.

There you have it- five generic places to visit in Survival Horror games. Keep an eye out for them the next time you play a video game in the genre.

Anonymous asked: Do you have a crush on anyone right now? Are you looking for a girlfriend?

Nah I don’t really have a crush. It depends on what you mean by ‘looking.’ I’m not searching high and low for a girlfriend, I can live without one, but if I were to continue talking to someone I liked, and it was looking good and feelings were looking mutual, then I would take the opportunity. No rush though. Whatever happens, happens. Why might you ask? I’d like to think there’s a reason you took the time to come here to ask that haha.
